Imagine a place where the sands of the desert have been touched by the magic of Hollywood stardust. You've found it with this two-day tour, which'll show you some of Tunisia's most famous film locations. You'll visit a Roman amphitheater, explore underground cave houses, cross a vast salt lake, and discover a secluded oasis at the fringes of the Sahara. 

Embark on your sandy adventure at El Jem Colosseum. You'll then head to Matmata, where you'll have lunch and visit the rock-cut cave homes that starred in two Star Wars films. Finish the day in the oasis town of Douz for an overnight stay. This is a great spot to take an optional camel or carriage ride in the desert.

After breakfast, you'll cross Chott el Djerid, a mirage-filled salt lake, before jumping into a 4x4 for a ride to Onk Jemal, where you'll discover the film set city built for Star Wars. Departure to Carthage, founded by the Phoenicians in 814 BC. The earliest settlements of Punic Carthage can sill be seen on Byrsa Hill, just below the renowed Carthage National Museum. Although destroyed by the Romans in 146BC and later built over by them, recent excavation has revealed the foundations of five-story Punic houses, each with its own cistern and drainage system. The most remarkable early remains are the two basins of the Punic Ports, an evidence of the Carthaginian’ mastery of the sea, which fascinated and frustrated the Romans. Another important site of pre-roman Carthage is the Tophet.

Sidi Bou said: Perched high atop of a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, this picturesque village is a delightful place for a leisurely stroll through winding cobbled streets. Its trademark white walls, contrasting sky blue doors and ornate window grids, make for a wonderfully inspiring setting. Wander around the boutiques for souvenirs or relax at a cliff-side Moorish café.
